The captain hands each guest their own iPad upon boarding, which remains theirs for the duration of the voyage. Via the device they can control the shipboard entertainment and climate systems, adjust the blinds and lights in their cabins, and even summon a crewmember to bring more cocktails.
That sounds great to me! I imagine crews will appreciate the added connectivity to their clients, as it could greatly reduce the guess work of when or where they should make themselves available to their guests. Guests should appreciate the ability to get much faster and efficient service. I imagine they could also set a digital "Do Not Disturb" warning for when privacy is desired. Personally, I would appreciate the ability to surf the web for dinner ideas and cocktail recipes to forward directly to the responsible crew, taking the guess work out of what I would like to drink!
