iPad For Your Next Charter / by Ryan

SolemateJared Paul Stern at Luxist just posted about Lürssen's awesome new iPad integration into their $600,000 Solemate charter package. Stern writes...

The captain hands each guest their own iPad upon boarding, which remains theirs for the duration of the voyage. Via the device they can control the shipboard entertainment and climate systems, adjust the blinds and lights in their cabins, and even summon a crewmember to bring more cocktails.

That sounds great to me! I imagine crews will appreciate the added connectivity to their clients, as it could greatly reduce the guess work of when or where they should make themselves available to their guests. Guests should appreciate the ability to get much faster and efficient service. I imagine they could also set a digital "Do Not Disturb" warning for when privacy is desired. Personally, I would appreciate the ability to surf the web for dinner ideas and cocktail recipes to forward directly to the responsible crew, taking the guess work out of what I would like to drink!

Luxist describes Solemate as "...a 60m (196' 10") superyacht launched in 2010. Superyacht 'Solemates II'  is available for luxury yacht charters in the Western Mediterranean (France, Italy, Sardinia, Monaco) in the summer and the Caribbean Islands in the winter. Yacht Solemates II has a sleek and curved exterior design by Espen Oeino, a Monaco based experienced superyacht designer, and her interior is the well regarded work of Glade Johnson."

With 1.4 crewmembers per guest, you and 11 friends should be able to enjoy yourself on this German masterpiece!
